Source text: COMPANY D TWELFTH. Recruits for the Fairmont Company Receive a Hearty Welcome. Special Correspondence The St. Paul Globe. CAMP GEORGE H. THOMAS, June 27th Mrs. Capt. Royce arrived in camp this mornlng, somewhat tired from the tedious trip. Twenty-five recruits arrived this afternoon. Among the number are: William Shoepach, Westford; Vester Murrell, Fulda; Edgar Welcoxon, Fairmont; John Schumacher. Welcome; Frank Blener. Fairmont; Harry Pulver. Fairmont; Peter Deidrick. Falvmont; Charles Groebe, Fairmont; Joseph McAuliff, Fairmont; Wesley Personious, Fairmont; Burt Wright, Fairmont; Dean Welch, Daws County, Nebraska; Fred Jazzles, Welcome; Arthur Nelson. Tenhassen; Charles Merrill, Fairmont; Ray Van Amber. Nashville; Irven Siles, Fulda; Orin Kruse and Alfred Decker, Welcome; Joseph Joswlck, William Garmes, Clarence Grant. Fairmont; John Frank, Fulda; Chris Peterson and John Hecht, Fairmont. The boys opened their faces and cheered lustily when Sergeant Tester showed his colors on the camp grounds. He brought twenty-flve of as hale and hearty men as could be found In any regiment, and men for any company to feel proud of. Every one was glad to see Sergeant Tester at home again, all anxious to receive news from their respective homes. Quartermaster Lewis immediately issued blankets to the recruits, 93 that they might have a comfortable bed to lie on and "rest their weary bones," after their long and tedious journey. Tho boys were given a fine reception (too late for supper upon their arrival). There was some hardtack and coffee. - and coffee and hardtack. The boys were somewhat amused at the novelty of hardtack and coffee. but it will soon be an every-day occurrence "in Cuba." Corporal Burdick in quarters today. June 28— Sergeant Bird is in charge of quarters today. Private Crawford, who is suffering from lnflammatory rheumatism, has been moved to the division hospital. Guard detail for today: Corporal Burdick, Privates Peters, A. Peterson, M. Peterson and Robinson, supernumerary.

Marietta, GA and Ocala, FL - Ellen (Van Amber) Woodall, 83, beloved wife and mother, was called to her home in heaven to be with her Savior, whom she loved and served, on June 8, 2012. Ellen was born on May 5, 1929, in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of Wesley & Dorothy Van Amber. She lived in the Syracuse area until 1964, when she married Richard B. Woodall, (deceased) and moved to Ogunquit, Maine. In 1976, Ellen and Dick moved to Willimantic, Maine, and for the past several years they spent summers in Maine and winters in Silver Springs, FL. Ellen and Dick were married for 46 years until he passed away on August 6, 2010. Ellen was on the Board of Directors at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft Maine for 13 years and was a volunteer for over 30 years. She was a member of the American Legion ladies' auxiliary and worked at many of the Shriners' events. Ellen loved singing, sewing, cooking, entertaining, leather tooling, and gardening. She was active in the Willimantic Community Chapel, Willimantic, Maine and the Fellowship of God Church, Ocala, FL. She is survived by a son, Lawrence Lewis (Kathy) of FL; a daughter, Mary Tomlin, (Dale) of GA; a stepdaughter, Lisa Fellers, (Gary) of SC; four grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Bertha J. Van Amber and Marion Seymour of NY, and Sally Bliss, (Orbra) of IN. Memorial services will be held in Maine at the Willimantic Community Chapel. Funeral services will be held Monday in Millspaugh Funeral Home for Edward VanAmburgh of Bridgeport, Conn., formerly of Walden, who died at his home there yesterday.
Services at two p.m. will be conducted by the Rev. Richard P. Mallery.
Interment will be in Wallkill Valley cemetery.
Mr. VanAmburgh was born December twenty-second, 1872, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William VanAmburgh.
He was a member of the Walden Odd Fellows Lodge.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Rebekah VanAmburgh, two sons, William of Walden and Murray of Bridgeport; three sisters, Mrs. Oscar Conorman of Stone Ridge, Mrs. A.Rinehart of Torrington, Conn., and Mrs. Atkin Clegg of Walden.

Since he went to prison in '32 and filed Draft Registration in '42 (though it appears as if that was filed at Auburn) it would appear as if he was released in '42.
