Last night I stood on guard 4 hours. Went down to the river and had a wash Wrote a letter to Ett.

Went down to the river and had a good wash today.
Mon. Aug. 10, 1863
This morning we received notice to get ready to start for New York. Started at 3, got to Rouses Point about 6, took the boat for Whitehall. Rode all night.
