Thu. May 12, 1864

Still we lay here in Fredericksburg. The fight still going on. We took 8000 prisoners today with 40 pieces artillery 4 major generals.
Got my wound dressed today for the first time since they was done up.

Fri. May 13, 1864

Still were here in Fredericksburg half starved. The weather is very wet and the roads bad. It is hard work to get supplies.

Sat. May 14, 1864

Still wet and disagreeable weather. Got a plenty for dinner too had beef soup with potatoes in it. It is the first meal that we have had enough.

Sun. May 15, 1864

I wrote another letter to Ett today. My wounds have been very painful today. Still laying here in this old shell, not half enough to eat. Got a slice of bread for dinner and a little poor coffee.
